Finding Inspiration in a Hectic World
There comes a time in everyone’s life where inspiration seems hard to come by. Busy schedules, family life, procrastination, a mountain of commitments – all of this can place creative outlets and passions on the backburner and dampen inspiration and vision. With the steps below, you can be on your way to becoming more inspired, more determined and more willing to express your creativity, and strive in 2017 as the happy, creative, inspired, visionary Earthling that you are!
GO FOR A WALK IN NATURE
” Look deep into nature and you will understand everything.” – Albert Einstein
There is nothing more inspiring than immersing yourself in the gifts that Mother Nature offers. Being outside helps us to feel more attuned with nature and can make us feel that we belong to something, that we are part of something greater than ourselves. This notion in itself is very inspiring and gets those creative juices flowing!
KEEP A JOURNAL
Keeping a track of your thoughts and ideas is paramount in the creative process, no matter your medium - whether you’re an actor, writer, painter, musician, designer, artist of any kind! Journalling allows us with a safe space for expression, free from judgement and fear, where we can lay all of our thoughts out in a visual way and make sense of what is in side ourselves. Journalling serves to motivate and helps us reflect on our ideas, thoughts and actions.
GIVE YOURSELF SPACE
This involves a mini technology detox, disconnecting from Facebook, other social media sites, the internet in general, and allowing the Self to be rediscovered. Social media can be a major distraction, full of useless information and instant gratification that does little to inspire and ignite creativity. Giving yourself space can involve distancing yourself from people you find taxing on your energy, even if this is just a temporary break. Allowing yourself to just be, without rigid schedules and tasks every minute of the day can serve to reboot your spirit and start you on the journey to inspiration and creative discovery.
MEDITATE & PRACTICE PRANAYAMA
Meditation has many benefits, and is becoming increasingly recognised as a valid practice when it comes to mental and physical health. Meditation cultivates focus, clarity, insight, perspective, calmness and patience in those that practice, and these things all lead to an increase in inspiration and creativity. Meditation can help ease anxiety, encourages and established the internal environment necessary for insight, and connects us to an artistic space within ourselves. As with meditation, some of the benefits of pranayama include a greater awareness of the Self, relief from anxiety, and clearer thinking. The combination of these encourages creativity, inspiration and freedom from self-limiting beliefs.
Implementing these tips into your life may help get you out a rut, help you get in touch with your creative side and inspire you to create your best work yet!
